We were having a discussion today in my Speculative Mind class on whether "love" is an emotion or a decision. We were not debating the dictionary definition and the whole thing started under rather stupid circumstances, but it turned out to be a fairly interesting debate.

Surprisingly (at least to me) many people went with either one side or the other. I guess some people like to form instantaneous opinions without much thought and then argue like they have infinite knowledge of the subject... but that is off topic. I think it is obviously an emotion but needs to be a conscience decision for it to last. I guess it depends on the personality of the individual though; I am one who really thinks about any decisions I make and then let emotion follow.
