I don't want to get into a debate of any kind, so this will be my only post to this thread unless someone requests a clarification of my beliefs or something like that. That said...
I believe the Bible should be interpreted literally wherever possible. Unless the context of a Scripture reference clearly indicates that something is symbolic or figurative, then I believe that what is said is literal.
Therefore, I believe in a literal six-day creation. It's obviously possible for God to have created everything within a 144-hour time span, and I beleive he actually did so. As for the appearance of age, I think it is just that... an appearance. According to Genesis, God did not create Adam as an infant and take care of him until he was old enough to take care of himself. No, God created a grown man, who probably appeared to be a young adult the moment God finished making him, even though he was in reality only a few seconds old. Likewise, I think God made a universe with everything already in place and functioning, not a ball of matter that exploded and then took billions and billions of years to coalesce and form into what it is today.
But I stress that this is just *my opinion* and belief based on what I know of the Bible. I can't know with absolute certainty because *I wasn't there*.
