I have daytime running lights on my Toyota. They come on when the car turns on, and they stay on. I think it's a good idea, because I'd rather have other drivers see me coming than not notice me. I also have a sensor on my dashboard that turns my headlights on if it's dark enough outside. That comes in handy, because I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn my headlights on when it gets dark outside. And, if I let the sensor turn them on for me, they'll also automatically turn off when I shut off the engine. That's one less way for me to accidentally drain my battery.
