I would probably get mad at them if they were really nice and comfortable in the store, but then they gave me a blister the next three times I wore them, or just made my feet hurt, or whatever. I would be REALLY mad if they did this only after I'd worn them outside and couldn't take them back, at which point, I'd throw them in the nearest receptacle.
I got mad at some new shoes last week. I had only recently purchased them and had worn them twice, both times outside. They rubbed on my ankle and made it sore but I thought it was normal breaking in. I thought this was weird, though, because Vans had never given me much trouble in the past. After checking the spot where it rubbed, I found a hard spot, like a wire inside, that was poking me and rubbing the skin raw. So, I took them back (after cleaning the dog poop off that I had stepped in) and they did a straight exchange, no problem.
If I have a *chance* of getting a refund or exchange, I'll try for it. They owe me.
