I know what you mean. A few years ago, I had a friend who was a very firm atheist. I had regular conversations with him, and this almost destroyed my faith. He had answers for everything, knocking down creationism etc immediately. However, when I learnt to take his ideas into account and incorporate them into my own, my faith became a lot stronger, and now he's still a very good friend. Most of my friends don't mind the fact that I am a Christian, but they don't like me pushing it in their face or trying to convert them. I think that's reasonable.
