Huh? If anything, it'd be easier to make a "Water Resistant" analogue watch than a ditto digital one, because you could make it completely mechanical, in which case it wouldn't matter if water entered (cheating, I know, but in the end, we could tell the time under water, and at any depth we could possibly survive, to boot. On the downside, the mechanicals would probably be filled with dirt and rust before long).
OK, I suppose that a mechanical digital (mechano-digital?) display could be fabricated, but that would only bring it on par with the analogue watch.
