I can attest that when you live in a different country for a while... where colloqualisms or heck, the entire LANGAUGE is different, you DO pick up on stuff and use it naturally for a LONG TIME.

Heck, I haven't lived in the Netherlands for almost 9 years now, and I still say 'stommerd' (stupid), 'heel lekker' (very tasty) and other Dutch words that ended up becoming a permanent part of my vocabulary. Of course, I tend to only do that among people who either know Dutch or know me pretty well, because otherwise it confuses people. :)

I've also been told that when I eat, I eat like a European. *shrugs*
