approval stamp

Date: Monday, September 24, 2001, at 09:37:55 I saw on TV that polls give George W a 90% approval rate because of his handling of the current crisis. OK, even I have to say that he is doing a good job. But what is he doing that any other American president wouldn't do in the same situation? I take a lot of comfort in Colin Powell standing there on the president's right (His right-hand man?). At least he is working with a good team. The invisibility of the vice-president doesn't mean that he isn't offering input. I just wish the media would refrain from revealing everybody's location all the time. During WWII, we knew how to keep secrets. The public was aware that "Loose lips sink ships," and "The enemy is listening." Even our military victories were kept quiet for a few days before being reported. I first heard of the battle of Leyte Gulf in a newsreel weeks after it was over. |
