Having heard many tales of the poor security at US airports, I've been thinking that part of the problem is that Americans just aren't used to terrorism. This is of course a blessed state to be in, but it makes acts like this significantly easier when security plays second fiddle to convenience.

I don't mean to suggest that this couldn't have happened in England, but it would have been more difficult.

Airport security will increase in America now, and probably quite drastically. Possibly other forms of security will be beefed up as well, with background checks being run on entire sectors of "high risk" citizens.

I think the US now has to walk a very thin line between making similar attacks impossible and keeping your current level of freedoms.
