Job Application Question posted by Don the Monkeyman on Wednesday, August 22, 2001, at 13:25:23:
> I am looking for work, as some of you may know, and this week, a unique opportunity presented itself--a company that sells pumps is looking for an engineer to do some basic web page work as a supplement to some chemical engineering work (handling enquiries submitted through the website and filling out engineering datasheets and possibly doing some web development work). I'm pretty sure that I am qualified to do the job, because the web design stuff is a minor secondary role to the job and I have some experience anyway, but I am wondering if I should include my home page URL as part of my job application. My home page is not professional at all, but it does show that I have some basic knowledge about how this stuff works. > > I guess I want some feedback from those of you on this forum, since many of you have more web experience than I do, and may have a better idea of whether my web page would be a benefit to my application or a detriment. The company's web page is http://westcommpump.com, and my web page is in the link below. > > Thanks in advance for any input you might have. > > Don Monkey
From a person who worked in Human Resources at a School District, I would suggest not to include it. You could promote yourself better by attaching any and all transcripts and certificates you have, along with personal and professional reference letters. Under "Qualifications and Assets" dazzle them with a bunch of HTML computer jargon. Good luck.
