Lots of laws like that over this side of the pond (and most of them unjustly forced upon us by Europe) - bananas can't curve by more than a certain amount and gherkins have to be of a particular size, for example.

There was also going to be a law that any product with a place name in its name had to be made in that place, to avoid fraud. This is fine for things like Scotch whisky or Cumberland sausages, but it would have made "generic" things like cornish pasties illegal. So that got dropped or changed or something.
