The combination of air and light pollution in a city makes it appear that there aren't as many stars in the sky, and I was reminded of that on my recent New Hampshire visit. I grew up being able to see the Milky Way and, according to a recent CNN article (link below), I'm not the only one who misses it.

In the city I live in, there is an ordinance that keeps all the street lights pointing down (or with a cover over the top) to reduce light pollution. So as long you go into your backyard or someplace you can at least see all the contellations, plus enough stars to make the sky seem star-filled. Going camping still looks cooler, though.
