> Question for people who know baseball: If Babe Ruth was alive today, how would he fair in comparison to modern baseball players? In most sports, the finest player from is era would be hopelessly outclassed today. Admittedly, though, this is more to do with training than genetics.

Babe Ruth could be cut in spring training. He drank and smoked to excess, never worked out, and would have shown up in spring training fat and out of shape, and been worked into the ground. Well, if you took the Babe at the end of his career, anyway. I'm not sure what his work ethic was like towards the beginning. And he started as a pitcher, anyways, a very, very, very good one, in fact he has held several World Series pitching records at one time or another, and COULD have won a Cy Young award or two, if they had them back then. In today's game, he would forever remain a pitcher, because good pitching is hard to find, and home run hitters are a dime a dozen. He would make a good pitcher, but would not be as dominating of a pitcher as he was a home run hitter.
