Oh heck. You're right, gabby. I was mixing the 2nd and 3rd Conditional tenses together. If I were to use the 3rd Conditional properly, I should write:
"If Dave had had a Chicken Suit, I would have smacked him right upside the head."
Since I'm inflecting was/were using the 2nd Conditional tense instead, my original sentence should have been phrased thusly:
"If Dave wasn't such a babe in his scrumptious Chicken Suit, I would smack him right upside the head."
My question is whether THAT statement is grammatically correct.
