Oliver Cromwell was the leader of the Roundheads (Republicans) in the Civil War, later becoming the first of two Lord Protectors. It was 'im what chopped the 'ead off Charles I.
Cromwell had a son who later became Protector on OC's death. He was weak, failed to control the country, and left when the monarchy was restored with Charles II. Not sure about his first name.
