Looking for ideas posted by Kelly on Thursday, July 1, 1999, at 15:04:23:

And I'd love to hear how you proposed (or were proposed to) as well. I don't want to duplicate someone else, but your stories might give me some ideas. > From a girl's point of view:
The proposal is probably the second most dreamed about day of our lives. Over the years, my hopes for the big moment have definitely changed. When I was younger (early twenties), I wanted something a little showy, a little public, a little attention-getting. I got that. (No big deal, just in a restaurant with the staff bringing out the ring as an appetizer and the rest of the patrons watching.) Now that I've reached my early thirties, I'm a little embarrassed by it. I'd prefer the next one to be more private, more intimate, something I'll look back on as a tender moment when he did something special but didn't have to show off about it.
My advice is to think about the type of person your intended is and will become with you at her side, and plan something that will bring her pleasing memories throughout her life, not just something she can go to work with Monday morning.
Does that help at all?
