I think the real problem here is that pretty much everyone probably agrees with you, but a whole thread full of "I agree" posts wouldn't be very interesting. I agree that it is disgraceful that we no longer have the passion you talked about, and I still grasp futily (sp?) at dreams of going into space (poor eyesight and no physical conditioning ruin my shot unless they start letting everyone go) but your topic just doesn't have the controversy of a discussion about pretzels and potato chips.
