For anyone who is curious, feathers (and almost everything else) is measured in avoirdupois weight, which counts 16 oz. to the pound. Gold (and other precious metals and gems) are measured in Troy weight weight, which counts 12 oz. to the pound. Troy ounces are slightly heavier than avoirdupois ounces (480 grains rather than 437.5), but there is still a very significant difference between the weights of the pounds.
