The gender of a moth is easily defined by the antennae. If it has big, feathery antennae, it's a guy. If it has skinny slender ones, it's a girl. It has to do with their love life. The males need big, feathery, sensitive antennae so they can smell the girls.

Actually, that's not true. There are plenty of small drab butterflies and large colourful moths. The difference is a little deeper than that, in antennae, behavior, and how they fold their wings. Anyway, this moth was about an inch or so long, but there are plenty butterflies that size, too.
It just occurred to me that I watch way too much Discovery Channel.
