Hmm... I think a good idea would be to do it in a way that gets her to expect something else, if you see what I mean, though it will depend on your girlfriend... if she's the type who's easily frightened, that may not be the greatest idea. But when she least expects it would be the time I'd choose.

Depending on the two of you, you might want to propose in public somewhere. That adds romanticism to it, and shows your faith in her. Again, that might frighten her, though, if she's the timid type. As an actor and a DJ, I've always wanted to propose either onstage or on the air. Of course, I'll never get the chance, so I'll just have to settle for talking somebody else into doing it. ;-}
