I'm American, and I certainly don't flippantly use the word "Nazi." In fact, I'm one of the ones who would be more likely to be annoyed or offended. If the day comes when "Nazi" is listed in the dictionary as a mere adjective having nothing to do with the real definition, it will indicate that the horrors and atrocities of World War II have been forgotten. The greatest fear of Primo Levi, a holocaust survivor who wrote books about his experience, was not the memory of his life in concentration camps. No, his fear was that the world would forget the brutality of the Nazis. After the war, he spent the rest of his life trying to make sure that people would not forget. When people forget, history repeats itself.
