Oh, wow, I can't believe I completely left the Kevin Smith movies off my list. I'm such a fan of the guy (as are all of my friends) that I probably just assumed that he wasn't underrated. Anyway, he's made four movies: "Clerks," "Mallrats," "Chasing Amy," and "Dogma." I'm slightly hesitant to reccomend him on this forum as his movies are very, er, rough in terms of content ("Clerks" was originally rated NC-17 on the basis of its language alone). It's also worth noting that "Mallrats" is a direct homage to 80s teen movies, and is at about the same level of intelligence. The other three, though, are fair game. All are very funny, though "Chasing Amy" and "Dogma" have substance while "Clerks" is pretty much just a straight comedy.
