You mentioned a John Cusack movie, which reminded me of another film he was in that wasn't much of a hit.

I really liked "High Fidelity." I liked the honest way it looked at relationships between flawed people. John Cusack's character acted like a real jerk sometimes, but he was still likeable enough to understand why the movie ends happily.

However, the movie goes beyond when the usual happy ending would have been. The character has to grow up, not just get a second chance. It's hard to describe without giving away the story. But it was different from most love stories.

Of course, I also liked it because the characters worked in a record store and there was a good soundtrack. :)
