My mother is still in a stable condition. She ended up not having surgery, partly because the condition wasn't severe enough to require it and partly because the bleeding in her brain was in a difficult position to reach, and the doctors felt it would be better to wait and see if her body can absorb the blood on its own. They are prepared to do emergency surgery if that becomes necessary, however.

Her condition has been slowly improving since last night. The doctors are "encouraged." However, there is a long way to go yet, and basically things are still up in the air.

Darleen and I are just about to head over to the hospital. We'll be staying there for a little while, so I probably won't be online again for a couple of days. I'll post another update when I can.
