In Canada, a lot of business like grocery stores list both units on their signs. I don't see a problem with this method. In fact, if somebody wanted to legislate rules on the matter, I would think that this would be the way to go--make it so vendors must have metric on their signs, and if they wish, they may also have imperial. Unless, of course, the reasoning behind the laws here involves something else I don't know about...
