LAN stands for Local Area Network. A LAN party basically involves linking a bunch of computers into a network and then playing multiplayer computer games with each other over said network.

I had heard of such a thing before, but it wasn't until recently that I realized what a big thing it's apparently becoming. My friend and fellow RinkyDink The Scotsman does it quite frequently. He and I had a "mini-LAN party" this weekend, just our two computers, but he has a whole other set of "LAN" friends that I don't even know, with whom he frequently LANs. He told me that some of these guys have performed custom-designed refits to their PCs, decorating their cases and even adding handles to make them easier to carry around. They give their computers names and decorate them to match.

As far as I know, they're all single guys. Well, except for one who JUST got married. I certainly don't have the time to do stuff like that.
