Wishing for world peace is essentialy saying "I wish that everybody would leave everybody else alone so they can do whatever hideous thing they want to do so long as they don't bug me."

While we're on the subject of comic strips, I remember a Dogbert comment on why he wants to see everyone give up weapons and violence. "That way, I can conquer the whole planet with just a butter knife".
