It's not exactly self-evident; it has more to do with how you see the world.

And if one took that interpretation of the Golden Rule (do to people what you want done to you) then suicidal people would be justified in mass killing sprees. Or if you interpret it "Do to people what you think they want done to them" then there's nothing wrong with giving a drug addict more crack. Or shooting a depressed person.
