An interesting debate point posted by Zarniwoop on Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at 08:50:58:
Knee-jerk reaction: Kicking a guy from a cricket team because of what he votes is un-professional. The two things have nothing to do with each other. It's like firing someone because his/her brother turns out to be the bully from 1st grade.
On the other hand, try following this line of thought: If you are not professionals, I presume that the social life is an important reason why you and your team mates play cricket. If this guys political views have as a consequence that he disgusts you, then it's kind of perverse to force you to keep socializing with him. If the majority of the team are disgusted, ... well, you see where this is going.
Another thing is, that (in my limited experience) social exclusion mostly acts to reinforce this type of people in their ... views. Ther ideal would therefore be if you could turn him around, or, failing that, if you could persuade him not to flaunt his views (and any consequent actions) at the club. This would be so much easier if it is 'only' after 5 pints he's proud :-)
