That whole series is supposed to be funny. I know that might not seem too humourous, but the other books are...and not all of them revolve around such a silly thing. A lot of them actually have pretty good plotlines, albeit pun-filled.

I've also heard he writes historical fiction, but I've never read any of his on that subject.
