I recently read the Books Of Blood series by Clive Barker. They were much better than I expected. Usually horror seems vulgar and boring to me, focusing more on shock value than actual horror. The Books of Blood, however, were very disturbing, in a good way. Though they all seem to end the same way--- the characters go insane.
