As far as I know, that was based on aluminium (or aluminum, if you're from the USA) being the active ingredient in almost all antiperspirants. It's known that ingesting aluminium increases the risk of Alzheimer's. I don't know whether or not rubbing it on your skin every day of your life has the same effect, but that's where the idea comes from, at least.
