Actually, yes, i would pick 7.

5 has always been my favorite number, but in picking i have to go with seven. See, the college guys from my home church get together occasionally to play football, and we "pick a number between one and ten" to decide who gets to pick team members or have possession first. The number is always 7. We usually try to make it interesting by making new guys pick, because they don't know any better.

Point is, i'd pick 7, just like you said.
