I don't think that was Liz's point. Admittedly, these kids were probably a bit stupid (to put it mildly) but the point is probably that they really *hadn't* distinguished between fact and fiction. If they saw Home Alone 2 (there is a brick-throwing scene in that; I must sorrowfully admit that I've watched it) they really wouldn't have known that throwing bricks at people kills them. My opinion (for what it's worth) is that they were almost experimenting - a sick and twisted way of experimenting with something, to be sure, but is that really an excuse for executing them? I would imagine that I'm with the opinion of most anti-capital punishment countries and a sizeable portion of the US when I say that the State shouldn't have the power to take a life legally. To further my opinion, I think the boys are in real danger if they are released and people know who they are (I heard that their pictures have been released on the web) and they should have at least the level of security that those under witness protection schemes do.
