I thought the German for foot was fuß (or fuss, if you prefer), though it's been a long time since I learnt German.

Anyway, I still think (in my arrogant, superior, British way) that Foosball should really be called Table Football. Table Soccer would also be acceptable (especially in the US), but why a whole new word needs to be invented for this escapes me.
