As a matter of fact, I read a newspaper article today about finding names for children. Since it was about German children, it wouldn't make sense to quote most of it, but there was one interesting commentary about naming children after places: the author mentioned that Bill Clinton named his daughter Chelsea and went on to remark that this wouldn't fit for Germany: imagine Gerhard Schröder (the current chancellor) calling his daughter, e.g., Langenhagen.
