Of course, when the character is self-aware that they ARE in a game and make mention of the fact that they're carrying a whole lot of stuff and in other ways have fun with the boatload of inventory they're carrying, it's hilarious.

I can vividly remember playing one of the old Space Quest games (I *think* it was 4, but I'm not sure) where I ordered Roger (the player character) to pick up and pocket this HUGE board. The narrator boomed (yeah, it was new enough to have speaking voices) "There is NO WAY you are going to fit THAT in your pants." Of course, he did it anyway, but if there's one thing I remember about that game, it's that particular moment. Heh.

That pops up a lot in the Monkey Island games, too... Guybrush has carried everything from a large dog to a mask made of tofu. And makes commentary on it. "Hey! The quicksand is sucking all the cool stuff I found out of my pants! ...now THERE'S an odd sensation..."

Sosi"that's the second biggest duck I've ever had in my pants!"qui
