Here's a general question:
If John can do something in 1 hour, how long does it take John and Bob working together to do the same thing?

The obvious answer, from a purely mathematical view, is half an hour - twice as many workers, half as long to do the work.

But suppose that the thing being done is repairing a pocket watch. Then it might actually take longer, because John and Bob would get in each others' way, trying to do delicate work on a small object.

On the other hand, suppose that the thing is filling a tub of water from the tap. Then it will still take an hour; no matter how many people are there, the water still flows from the tap at the same rate.

So, we agree. The simple, boring answer works only if you ignore all the real-life issues!
