Now you're changing what you said. And I quote "A person who accidentally shoots a police officer could be put to death. "

Eric was simply pointing out that if it's an accident, you're not going to get the death penalty.

If someone sees a police officer, pulls out a gun, and starts to shoot, thereby knowingly killing that officer, yes, he CAN and SHOULD get the death penalty.
