Is that not where one pokes two needly-sized holes at the top and bottom of a raw eggs, blows out the white and yolk, then cleans, dries, and paints the egg shell? I used to love doing that :-) The bad thing about it is that they are very fragile and break easily.

As teenagers, we used to do make confetti eggs. Enlarge one of the needle holes and fill the eggshell with confetti, then tape it over. These were handy projectiles at parties or football games.
