While I appreciate your unlucky experiences, I'm not entirely sure I agree with your assertion that the system is faulty. My feeling is that it is the scale of grading which is wrong, not the actual idea of grading. If you get top grades without working for it, the scale needs adjusting.

Also, a question I ask myself is this: People who work hard at their studies without commensurable reward, should they really be studying (that subject)? Is it not so that their talents lie elsewhere? Shouldn't there be opportunities for people who aren't bookworms?

We all know that plenty of people who didn't do well in school became very succesful later, but that only proves my point: These people should not be forced into the same education as people who do fine with books.
