I can't very well turn this sort of thing in, nor anything like the story I posted a few weeks back or the fantasy epics that I always start and never finish. That leaves me with very little, especially when I get a topic assigned to me.

Having been both a teacher and a student, I know that, unless a writing assignment is very specific, it will be met with groans from those who can't think of a subject. When I was a kid, I liked those vague assignments, even the dreaded ones at the beginning of the school year when we were asked to write "about what you did over summer vacation." I looked at such writing assignment as a chance to shoot the bull and maybe get an easy A. Writing was as natural as reading to me. Not that I had talent. I just had a good imagination. I could write about anything or nothing. Sometimes it was the only chance I had to make a good impression on a teacher.
When I was teaching, I found out that good students are good writers and good writers are good students.
I still like to write, but I'm pretty much an unpublished writer. I write for the fun of it.
Oh. I almost forgot. It was a compliment.
