I don't know if this helps, but it has been reported that the director doesn't think that the trailers really give any kind of accurate indication of what the film is like. (He doesn't blame the advertising people: he doesn't think they *could* give any kind of accurate indication of what the film is like.)

Well, yes. But does that make it a bad movie?
I can think of plenty of good movies that could be described the same way.
