While I won't be seeing either of the afformentioned movies ( because a. I don't want to... b. The theatre in town closed ), I do have a problem with some of your points.

It seems that you're passing judgement without seeing the move (I say that carefully, as the ad campaign shows pretty much the whole movie...).
By not going to see Pearl Harbor/ any movie based on the fact that the ad campaign is everywhere, you're pretty much screwing yourself. What if it actually turns out to be a good movie? No, scratch that. It's great that you're recommending one movie over the other. It's fine if you don't go see the movie yourself. What isn't cool is that you're telling other people not to, by making it an insult to see the thing.
If I were a director, and I made a movie, and I had a ton of money... I'd make sure I crammed my movie down America's throat every time they turned on the TV. Yeah, it does take the limelight away from the "better" movies, such as Moulin Rouge, but them's the breaks in the big city.
I do agree, however, with your second point. The bombing of Pearl Harbor was a tragic time, and all that, and it'd be better to not glamourize it. The families of those who died there most likely aren't happy about it. De mortuis nil nisi bonum, and stuff (Translation: Make nothing but good movies about the dead. ^-^)
Maybe if you took the Pearl Harbor movie out of context, and make it a film about a war, it might be good... Just throwing that out there.
I basically agree with your third point, if you've seen some of the director's previous movies, and didn't like them, it's perfectly acceptable to bash the director/ film. What isn't quite right is passing judgement on a film because the director is a not a likeable person. Many people are jerks in real life, but do their job (directing, acting, etc.) well.

This is a mess, but I think I have the right idea. The only way to really judge a movie/ anything is after having seen it. Of course, this will be responded with by a very long justification, but I'm going to post it anyway.

B"making fun of trendy people is the trendiest thing of all"o
