It might be a body-language thing. Costumed people such as you refer to tend to go in for artificial, exaggerated body-language, which can be disturbing. Especially faces -- artificial, exaggerated, and often immobile, which means you have no idea what they're really thinking...
[_The Mummy Returns_]

Yes. Why not? The whole point of it being a sequel is that there's all these people who were in the first movie as well.
> I thought that was demanding too much of me for a mindless action/fx flick.
And here we differ, because I never thought of _The Mummy_ as a mindless action/fx flick.
But to continue...
> 2)...that certain parts reminded you of the Peter Pan ride at Disneyland?
Never seen the Peter Pan ride at Disneyland.
> 3)...that the head magi gave the "live long and prosper" sign to his troops?
Didn't notice that.
(It's not "magi", by the way. It's... I can't remember the spelling, "medjai" or something [it was in one of the subtitles]. Magi are Persian mystics.)

'E.T.' isn't the only movie with stuff silhouetted against the moon. And I can't see why it should be an 'E.T.' reference.
> Did the jackal army remind you of the droids army in "2nd Episode'?
Yes.
I distinctly remember thinking, when the big battle scene near the end approached, "Oh well. At least this time the scenery and at least some of one of the armies is real."
