I've had several friends who were vegetarians for different reasons. One girl wanted to be vegetarian, but couldn't stand vegetables, so she just ended up eating a lot of pasta and other breads; needless to say, she got sick, and her doctor told her she'd stay that way if she didn't work chicken and some other stuff into her diet.
When at school, i am a quasi-vegetarian, partly for health reasons (i have to get certain things in my food to counter anemia) and partly because the cafeteria is really excellent at serving meat in many ways, most of which are intensely disgusting. I overlook the bell peppers' tasting like soap, because i'm scared to get my fork near the meatloaf.
I am a bit frightened by the knowledge that genetically altered vegetables are probably a significant cause of cancer. What really frightens me is that no other vegetables are readily available to me, so i'm just stuck.
