Handyman, yes. Brainyman, no.

The deadbolt lock on our door is broken. Well, actually, it isn't completely broken. We can lock it from the inside and be safe and snug at night, however, from the outside, the key doesn't work. A tumbler or something must be out of whack. Anyway, it has been broken for quite a few months now but we never called the apartment office to have them fix it. Since I am home during the day, I called this week to finally have them come out and fix it. Unfortunately, they came by yesterday when I was out. Somehow, the meaning of "the key does not turn" did not come across and the handyman fixed something that wasn't broken on the door. So, I came home to a pile of sawdust and a lock that still didn't work.

After calling the office again to say that it wasn't fixed, the handyman came out again today. This time I was home and made sure he saw what the real problem is. He had to run and get a few things and when he came back, I was on the phone. I guess he had a question for me but I didn't know this so he started to do the job of replacing the deadbolt. After hanging up the phone, I come over to see what is happening and notice that he hasn't put in a new deadbolt lock but rather *another* door knob. I guess he didn't have a new set that was a door knob/deadbolt combo and wanted to make sure I could lock that part of the door. I told him that we actually only wanted one door knob and that we'd wait for the deadbolt, too.

I still don't know why anyone would want two door knobs on a door. What a pain that would be. It's hard enough turning one knob with your hands full.
