I think that for many people, civilization=shiny. Think about it. People think that someone is more civilized if they use silverware instead of fingers, because silverware is SHINY! The mexicans thought the Spanish were gods because the Spanish were shiny with all their armor and stuff. When we think of the future, we think of shiny walls and clothes and stuff. We think metal pop cans are more advanced than wooden pop cans, because metal pop cans are SHINY! I don't personally think civilazation=shiny, but I'd like to hear if you do.
