A story of nice people

I have a little story to share with you all...

The other day I was going to all the local garage sales finding lots of furniture for my new house. :) At this one particular house in the neighborhood I found a cute little dresser that I wanted and paid the people for it. Well, the man of the house carried it to my car for me and we tried to put it in my trunk. If you know me well enough you'd know that I have a ton of sports equipment in my trunk. I carry it around just in case I'm somewhere I want to play. Well, in order to put the dresser in I took out the bowling ball and set it on the grass next to my car. The dresser still didn't fit though and we shoved it in my back seat. Finally.. I left. Without my bowling ball.

Well, to be honest, I didn't even realize it was gone. Even yesterday (when I had to get in my trunk to get the tools to change my flat tire - another story), I didn't notice it was missing. Too much stuff in my trunk I guess. But after I got home from work there was a knock on the door. It was the lady from the garage sale. I said hi and asked what I could do for her, and she said.. "Did you leave your bowling ball at my house??" I was amazed. I started to remember what happened and I asked her, "How did you find me?" She said she remembered me saying that I lived in the neighborhood and she vaguely remembered the color of my car. So she and her husband drove around today and spotted my car. My garage, which had the dresser in it, was also opened so they knew they probably had the right place.

I could not believe it! I know that there are good people around, but I never thought anyone would do that. I would've expected them to just keep the ball, or even try to sell it in the garage sale. But no, they looked for me, and they don't even know me. I just thought it was so neat that I would share it with you. Just when your faith in people is failing, someone does something like this. Needless to say, I'm mailing a thank you card to them. I guess their mom's raised them like my mom raised me.

fam"if you are of driving age, please make sure you know how to change a flat! ;)"ous
