And yet, once again, BG touches upon another aspect I had not yet thought of. In the U.S., we usually say, "Moss-cow." The way it is written in Russian is pronounced as Brunnen_G states above (Russian is fabulous that way. All words are spelled phonetically so if you learn the alphabet, you can read Russian signs and such. Understanding them is a different issue). However, if a Russian were to say Moscow in English, it would probably sound like "Moss-ko." And I would know what they meant any which way.
